With a passion for aesthetics and an eye for timeless style, Margo Hotston has built a dynamic career spanning fashion, retail, and interior design. A Sydney University graduate, Margo’s journey has taken her across the globe, shaping her expertise in design, sales, and entrepreneurship.
Early in her career, she gained invaluable senior sales experience, working with brands and developing a deep understanding of clientele. She later joined Jets Swimwear, one of Australia’s most iconic swimwear brands, where she worked alongside the owner as second-in-command, playing a pivotal role in brand growth, design direction, and market expansion.
Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to the United States, where she founded Bondi Bathers, a swimwear brand that captured the essence of Australian beach culture and gained international acclaim. Her designs were featured in major publications, including Sports Illustrated, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar, and were sold in premier retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys, and Bloomingdale’s, as well as exclusive specialty boutiques across the country. Additionally, Margo developed a private label swimwear line for Urban Outfitters, which went on to feature the number one best-selling swimsuit on their website.
As her creative interests evolved, Margo transitioned into home staging, using her keen eye for design to transform residential spaces. This passion for interiors led her to open Mist Home, a boutique specializing in curated interior décor and design pieces. Her ability to seamlessly blend style, function, and luxury quickly earned her recognition among upscale homeowners and collectors.
Today, Margo Hotston Designs is quickly making a name in interior design, gaining recognition for its sophisticated and personalized approach. Based in New York, Margo works with discerning clients to create spaces that are both sophisticated and deeply personal. Her work reflects a refined sensibility, influenced by her global travels, fashion background, and innate creativity. Designing for private residences predominantly, Margo continues to set new standards in modern luxury and timeless elegance.
